How To Be Productive In Your Business In 2022

2022 will be your best year yet! I can feel it. Here are several ways you can be more productive this year in your personal life and within your business. I talk everything from goal setting, to creating balance within your life, to finding ways to stay inspired.

Tip #1 - Set Goals

The #1 way to be productive and to measure your productivity is to set goals. "Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible to the visible." -Tony Robbins. However, remember that a goal without a deadline is just a dream so it's equally as important to give yourself a timeline to meet those goals.

Remember:

  1. It's not the end of the world if you don't meet your timeline. Stay the course.

  2. It’s better to have a destination and get off track, than to have no destination and forever be lost.

  3. Write it down. I’m a creative with so many ideas, it can be hard to keep track. I have multiple journals, notes in my phone, planners, etc, that I use to jot my plans down so I do not forget a single detail. Even if you don't plan on executing an idea anytime soon, still write it down. You'll likely thank yourself later!

Tip #2 - Automate Your Business

If you are just starting your business, you are likely riding solo. Actually, I've been in business for 10+ years and still don't have a team and that's okay. Grow at your own pace. No matter then length of time you've been in business or the amount of team members you have, one thing is for certain.... we all have the same 24 hours in a day and there's likely something that you're doing that could be automated.

Here are some suggestions:

  1. Social Media: Plan and schedule your content in advance using platforms like Hootsuite and Later

  2. Email Marketing: Create preset funnels to keep customers engaged pre and post- purchase

  3. Ads: Create Evergreen Ads that always run on your best selling products or services to keep traffic flowing to your website

  4. Inbox: You're busy...I get it, but there are ways to manage your personal email too. Set up Auto-reply to buy yourself sometime to read the actual email

  5. Learn a new skill to do something faster

  6. Simply get help. Assistants, interns, freelancers, consultants... take your pick!

Doing any of the above will help you free up time to do things that you actually want to do.

Tip #3 - Consistently Evaluate Your Business and Change What's Not Working

I fear many entrepreneurs don't do this enough and I know this because actual corporate businesses that have existed for years struggle with this. Evaluating your business on a consistent basis is really the only way to make it better versus waiting until something goes wrong to fix it. Be proactive, not reactive.

My recommendation is to carve out time to review your business every quarter. Evaluating your business every 3 months allows time for newly established processes to blossom (or not). Ask yourself "What's working well? What's not working at all?" and change the things that aren't working. How can you expect a different result without change?

Tip #4 - Create Balance in Your Life

Since the start of the pandemic, working remotely has been the way of life for most of us for the past two years. The lines of work life and home life can easily be blurred, which is why now more than ever we need to create a balanced lifestyle to avoid getting burnt out. Here's how:

  1. Separate working space from your living space

  2. Have dedicated work hours and leave room for me-time and self care

  3. Do more activities that you enjoy

  4. Clean your space (make your bed, clean your home office, or studio space)

Tip #5 - Stay Inspired

Starting a business is not easy. All entrepreneurs come to a point where they made need a little push to keep going. It's important to find ways to stay inspired.

  1. Remember your why: This will help you to stay motivated during those tough times.

  2. Get away: This could be traveling or even just going for a walk to clear your head. I often get new ideas or answers to questions that I may have been pondering on.

  3. Talk to individuals who are where you want to be: Now this is the 1, the 2, and the 3 for me! There's nothing more inspiring than talking to someone who has the capacity to meet you where you are and point you in the direction for your next steps because they've been in your shoes.
